Art in Words?
While vacationing I decided to make a journal page with all the logos and names of the various restaurants we ate at. I used Prismacolor pencils on the back side of Stipple paper. I really like how the arepas turned out. That is a Venezuelan little pocket sandwich. The bread is made from corn and is a little like an English muffin with a little crunchy outside and soft interior filled with great tasting fillings. One filling was black beans, cheese, tomatoes, avocado, onion and cilantro.YUM! We tried many different restaurants this time and some standards. It was fun and delicious. Much better than eating in the casinos all the time.

Drawing While Flying
I was planning on only drawing a fellow passenger or two when the pilot announced we were flying over a small section of the Rockies. I quickly turned my journal open to a page with colored paper and grabbed a White(938) and Green Ochre(1091) Prismacolor pencils and started to do some quick sketches of them. I didn't get much time as I was sitting too close to the wing and only got about 15 to 20 seconds to draw each one. I wish we had more to go over they were magnificent!

Journal on the Run
Trying to draw while traveling can be difficult. I find that if I start to draw someone or something they move. Plus the turbulence was bad making drawing on the plane impossible. I started to draw the plane at the gate when it backed away. I was lucky that the one girl was so engrossed in her phone conversation she stayed put.

Sketch Challenge Attempted
On one of the blogs I visited recently they did a sketch challenge called 5x5. You walk for 5 minutes, sketch something for 5 minutes, paint for 5 minutes and repeat until you have 5 sketches. I should have brought a chair and paper toweling. My paint set spilled onto my paper. I was able to get most of the extra paint off. Trying to juggle my journal, pen, paints and brushes was difficult. I had trouble at first as I was trying to use a watercolor pencil first which took too much time. I wasn't able to draw any support for the bridge. Over all I found the challenge fun and plan on doing it again.

Journal on the Go
Trying to work on my journal while we were going on our last wood cutting trip. I am trying to do my drawings as quickly as I can sketch and then adding later wording and maybe color.
Bought the eggs from a lady who I think raises the tastiest eggs I have ever had. (The whites are thick and the yokes are perky and orange!)
We went looking for morels after we finished cutting wood for our home. The trilliums are now blooming and I came across a tree with pieces of peeled bark all over it. Turns out that it is a hickory.
This year the weather has been so quirky that some things are way ahead of schedule. Normally this would be too soon for morels. Also if we would find them at this time they would be the small black ones, but this is a large white one.

Doodling Sunflower
Working on my loosing up and making doodles. I drew this at work on my calendar during lunchtime. I added the color pencil today. I think it turned out nice since I wasn't sure what it would be when I started. I used prismacolor color pencils and ball point ink. If I had know it would grow this large I would have started in the middle of the calendar.
